I had such a great time photographing our friends' engagement session at Waveny Park in New Canaan, CT. Even though this took place in early spring before the flowering trees, we were able to capture a variety of beautiful images throughout the session. I can't wait to see this gorgeous couple on their special day this fall. Wishing them a lifetime of love & happiness! Below are some of my favorites from the day and the top contenders for the "save the date" card.
Love is in the air! A BIG congrats to this beautiful couple on their engagement. We had a blast photographing Monica + Sheldon's engagement session at Waveny Park in New Canaan, CT in late September. See a quick sneak peek (they even included their photogenic dog, Abby, for some of the shots and she happens to look a lot like our little Lulu!)
The fall foliage at Waveny Park in New Canaan, CT is absolutely breathtaking. I've been looking forward to the peak foliage since the season started in September. This year in Fairfield County, we can expect to experience peak foliage during the end of October and early November, which will a busy time for myself as well as the other local photographers. I usually meet my clients for a natural light outdoor session an hour before sunset (golden hour) for best lighting and stunning photos. The way the sunlight shines through the colors of the changing leaves is just phenomenal.
During the fall at Waveny Park, the beautiful Japanese maple trees glow red as the leaves are backlit during golden hour and the whole park looks magical, bursting in color.
It's my goal to get a good mix of candid and posed portraits for my clients using the natural light and scenery that Waveny provides. I start by the old mansion, Waveny House, which leads to these beautiful pathways and large fields surrounded by stately trees. I also like to take my clients into the walled oriental garden for some portraits on the wooden bench which has a gorgeous backdrop of fall foliage.
For many of these sessions, I'm shooting with my Nikon D800e and the 70-200mm f/2.8 or the 24-70mm f/2.8 lens for a wider angle. I usually end the shoot by the long grass in the back which glows yellow and orange during sunset. As we head back to the parking lot, I capture some silhouettes against the sunset if it's late enough. I've had lots of fun shooting at Waveny Park over the years and am grateful to live so close to a park of its grandeur.
Below are some of my favorite images from my Fall 2015 mini sessions at Waveny Park. I can't wait to capture more memorable portraits of my new and returning clients in a couple of weeks during peak foliage. Fall Family Portraits at Waveny Park in New Canaan, CT
Below are some of my favorite natural light portraits from Fall 2015 taken at the park:
It was such a gorgeous evening to photograph this recent Maternity Session at Waveny Park in New Canaan, CT. We planned to meet at 7:30pm to shoot into the sunset and it worked out perfectly. We captured beautiful portraits in the floral gardens and lush, green fields at Waveny and then some backlit shots towards the end, which turned out to be some of my favorite ones from this session!
I could not be happier for this family and am so grateful to be able to capture such an important time in their lives together. Waveny Park is my favorite place to shoot because of the beautiful, natural scenery and lighting, plus it's huge and allows for lots of privacy. We were lucky enough to enjoy the full blooms in the garden and loved that their four-legged family member was also able to join in! Enjoy some of my favorite shots from the session and please feel free to contact me for more information.
