Planning Your Wedding Day: How to Incorporate Your Pets

Planning your wedding day involves endless details to be planned, but the one thing you know is that you want to include those closest to you both. Many people consider their pets to be a part of their family, and including them in your wedding day is a great way to share the joy of your special day with your beloved furry friend.

Whether you want your pet to be there on the day of your wedding, or just want to incorporate them in a small way, we’ve compiled a list of several different ways to do just that!

Include Them In Your Wedding Party

Including your pet(s) in your wedding can add an element of fun to your special day. You can dress them up in cute outfits or even assign them special roles in the ceremony such as a flower girl or ring bearer! Incorporating them in this special way can make your day all the more unforgettable. To add in a special detail, dress them in a bowtie or try attaching a small bouquet of flowers to your pet's collar.

Let Them Be Part of Your Photos

Some people have had their pet(s) for many years and as such, have shared significant life events with them. Include your pet in your wedding photos. If they won’t be at the wedding, consider taking photos with them while getting ready. You can take some photos with your pet alone and some with your wedding party.

Have a Signature Cocktail Inspired by Your Pet

If your furry friend has a unique name or personality, consider creating a signature cocktail inspired by them. You can make it as detailed as you want! Perhaps consider adding a picture of your pet to the cocktail sign or cocktail napkins.

Use Their Photo in Your Wedding Stationery

If your pet can't physically be at your wedding or your venue doesn’t allow pets, you may want to use their image in your wedding stationery. You can include them in your engagement photos and display those photos at the wedding or use for your save-the-dates.

Use Pet-friendly Decor

Include some pet-themed decor in your wedding, whether it be the favors, stickers, paw prints on the table numbers, the dessert table, or a photo display of you and your pet.

Hire a Pet Sitter

If you’d like your pet to be a part of your wedding day, but are worried about their comfort or needing to look after them, hire a pet sitter to take care of them. They can take your pet for a walk or keep them company in a quiet room away from the festivities.

Including your pet into your wedding day can be fun and memorable for you both as well as for your guests. Plan in advance who will take care of them that day. You’ll also want to make sure none of your guests are highly allergic, and that your venue permits pets.
